Two years ago, she sold clothes in the streets of her neighbourhood. Today, she manages her own shop.

Alejandra Barrientos lives in Garín and for 6 years she sold clothes in the streets of her neighbourhood. Despite her effort and dedication, her work did not bring in enough income and she was in constant danger of being robbed of her merchandise.

In May 2005, Alejandra approached Fundacion Progresar to learn about the credit system. Fortunately, at that time, a new Group called “Ilusión” was being formed and one of Alejandra’s neighbours was participating, so she was invited to join this group. Today Alejandra assesses that “Fundación Progresar helped me realise that we can still trust and rely on other people”.

Alejandra has already obtained six credits. The first ones were used to buy a larger amount and variety of merchandise. The last two were invested in the fulfilment of her dream: owning her clothes shop, which has been opened for six months and brings her a monthly income of Arg$800. Additionally, thanks to the guidance of her credit advisor, she has learned to follow the accountancy of her shop understanding the importance of  keeping control over her sales, expenses and purchases.

The loans received within PPC allowed Alejandra to make an income complementing the salary of her husband, bringing them a better quality of life for her family. Today, Alejandra dreams about designing her own clothes, for which he started a course on sewing and fabrics, proving once again that illusions have no limits.
